Learning Tools are third-party integrations that extend the functionality of Canvas. They can offer features such as writing assessment, video communications, proctoring, and media storage.
About Learning Tools
Although some learning tools may be visible within your course already, most are hidden by default, so you must display them. Additional tools may be installed in certain courses based on your school or department. For more about displaying learning tools, see the Knowledge Base article How to Incorporate Learning Tool Integrations (LTIs) in Your Canvas Course.
If you have an idea for how to improve a core Canvas feature that is not for a new learning tool, please submit your request using the Suggest Canvas Enhancements form. Use the Request a Learning Tool button below to request a new learning tool.
Request a Learning Tool
To request a learning tool for potential integration in Canvas, please submit an inquiry through the Courseware website. Please allow sufficient time for thorough security and privacy reviews.
Available Tools
While most learning tools are available for all courses University-wide, please check each tool’s availability as some are only available to select schools or departments, such as Penn State World Campus. Some tools also require action for authorization. If the action needed is listed as “Yes,” please contact courseware@psu.edu.
